Repeat Prescriptions

Patients on long-term medication can receive further supplies without the need for consultation. This is by arrangement with your GP.

Ordering your prescriptions:

Please note – we have asked our receptionists not to take requests for prescriptions over the phone, as this is prone to errors.

Your prescription will come with a counterfoil ("right hand side") which will be given to you by the chemist. Request further prescriptions by ticking the required medication and posting in the box in the Practice foyer.

You can send in a letter detailing your name and date of birth, which medications you require and which chemist you use.

You can ask at Reception for a form for you to complete to request medication.

Online Repeat Prescription Requests – via the link at the top of this page - please ask at reception for a registration form and information on this new service.

Email the Practice on ravenswood.tayside@nhs.scot  Please include your name, DOB and what medication you require.  Please note that this is for prescription requests only and other requests will not be dealt with.

Some of the local pharmacies may take a phone request and pass this on to us in writing, please contact them directly to ask.

If a Nurse comes to your house regularly, you could ask if they could bring your counterfoil ("right hand side") to us on your behalf.

If you are unable to submit your requests in any of these ways, please discuss this with your doctor.

Please allow at least 2 working days for the Practice to process your request – and allow another couple of days for the chemist to dispense your medication.  Remember to take Public Holidays and weekends into account.   If you are running out or have run out of medication and require it urgently, medications that are on your repeat prescription can be dispensed directly via unscheduled care through Community Pharmacies, with the exception of Controlled Drugs, in most circumstances.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to contact a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications. If you receive a request, please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
